EA Frostbite
Overview
Frostbite is the game engine that runs Battlefield and many other games at EA. It is divided into a wide set of domains, each responsible for a different layer of the engine and editor. I was on the Scene team. Scene is one of the core editor pillars, acting as the crossroads where many (if not most) user workflows intersect. The viewport, cameras, manipulators, scene hierarchy, inspector and more - are some of the product areas.
My role centered on bringing clarity, structure and user advocacy into this highly interconnected space. I worked across multiple engineering, UX, and content-creator touchpoints to strengthen the direction for the domain and improve how the editor systems supported content creators at scale.
Project Details
Frostbite is a vast organization with multiple layers, divisions, and deeply interconnected technical domains. Scene had operated without a PM for two years. This left ownership unclear and most product responsibilities absorbed into Engineering. Prioritization came from above, limiting local decision-making, and heavy process requirements made it difficult to reach end-users beyond a few power users. Navigating this environment required working in a space where authority was limited, expectations not always clear, and an engineering culture dominating nearly all discussions.
I created a clear vision for the Scene domain, and facilitated a team workshop to align direction and goals. I embedded myself across core editor systems, ensuring product perspective was present in engineering-led work. I maintained tight collaboration with our Experience Designer and Environment Director to reinforce user-centered decisions. I also contributed to cross-domain efforts with Frostbite UI and Procedural, advocating for creator-focused workflows.
Restored product structure to a domain that had lacked it for years, giving the team clearer direction and a shared sense of purpose. My advocacy for the end-users elevated usability and workflow consistency in discussions that had previously been engineering-only. Through presentations and documentation, I increased visibility into Scene's work and helped reconnect the domain with stakeholders across Frostbite.
